6 months!!

I can't believe it's already been 6 months since our little girl was born. Dang!

6 month stats:
15.7 lbs (40%)
26 in (60%)
(I don't believe that, though. There was a new nurse and she seemed a little incompetent, and she was 26 inches at her 4 month appointment. I refuse to believe she hasn't grown at all in 2 months. The doctor seemed unconcerned and said it was probably just a "lab error". I don't think he had much faith in her either.)

Cecily:
is sitting up like a pro.
hates laying down.
hates being on her tummy.
loves sweet potatoes and cereal.
tolerates peas and bananas.

Watching Wheel of Fortune with Grandma. During commercial breaks, she played with her toys, but when the show started again, she would whip her head around and stay just like that until the next break.

School's out for summer...

School's out forever!!!


...well, unless I end up going to grad school someday. But, I'm done with my bachelor's degree! WOOHOO!!! The actual graduation ceremony was pretty boring, but aren't they always? And for once, they pronounced my last name right! :) It was better than high school, because I was sitting by a pretty cool girl and we kept each other entertained through the long wait beforehand, and the ceremony. Sadly, I knew more people graduating from the biology department than the psychology department. I didn't make many friends in college, but that's ok. Afterwards, my family and I all celebrated at the Cheesecake Factory. YUM! Thanks Mom and Dad! and, we had a big party the following weekend. It was great to celebrate with friends and family, and 40 pounds of meat smoking in the backyard.

And now it's summer! It's great to actually get to spend time with Jonathan without him worrying about upcoming tests or papers that are due. We can actually sit and enjoy a tv show. Recently we've started watching "Is It Real?", on Netflix streaming. It's a National Geographic show (yeah, we're dorks. you know you're jealous.) that presents different evidence about myths and things. So far, we've learned all about crop circles (don't believe it, but they look really cool), Big Foot (I might be convinced on this one), and ghosts (they freak me out, and I conveniently went and did laundry through most of this episode so I wouldn't be scared all night).

And, since most people only visit our lovely little blog to see pictures of the Wardling, here you go!

This is my new favorite outfit of hers. Except the pants are almost too small, because her cloth diapers are GIANT!



Also, special shout-out to my friend, Katie. She made that cute little bunny that you can sort of see. I've been meaning to make Cily some toys, but I don't currently have access to my sewing machine, so I'm SO happy that she has a cute homemade monster bunny. Thanks Katie!!

Go Jonathan!

This morning, my darling Jonathan ran yet another triathlon. They're becoming one of his favorite things to do, and I really enjoy them as well! The atmosphere at things like this is really awesome. This was just a small one put on by TCC, but it was free, and there was lunch after, so we were happy. While Jonathan was swimming half a mile, biking like 10, and running another 3, Cecily and I were hanging out on a blanket in the shade and playing and having a mini-photo shoot. It was super fun. :)

Jonathan finished in 5th place, it took him 1 hour and 22 minutes to finish. Which is awesome. Especially for the little amount of time he's had to train this past semester. He really rocks, and I'm glad that I have him as an example to encourage and motivate me to be better about exercising and being healthy.

Then she rolled over and went to sleep, and I played tetris while we waited for him to finish. :)

I'm awesome!

Ok, so, I don't do this often, but I'm going to brag for just a little bit. You don't have to listen, er, read if you don't want to. meh.

A year ago, I was pregnant and very morning sickness-y. I was taking 16 hours of classes, was working about 15 hours a week, was a lab assistant for one of my professors, and just found out that my graduation plans were going to be pushed back another semester. I was having a really hard time being motivated to study and do well in school. So, I decided that I was going to give myself a goal. I was right on the borderline (the lower side..) of being able to graduate "cum laude", so my new goal was to get my grades up enough to push myself over the line. And, I worked at it. Harder than I've ever actually worked at school. I finished the spring semester, and plowed right into a maymester class, followed by 2 summer classes, and another 4 classes in the fall. Had a baby 10 days before finals. Throughout all of that, (13 classes) I only made 3 B's, the rest were A's. So, did I make the goal? Heck yes, I did! Well, sort of. Not cum laude, but magna cum laude!!!! I love the feeling of accomplishing a goal, and even more so, the feeling of exceeding your own expectations!

I'm really going to miss college. There's nothing set out ahead of me now. I have to make my own path, whether that's going to grad school, popping out 6 more kids, maybe starting a business, traveling the world from Naval base to Naval base with my officer husband, or anything. It's kind of scary, but super exciting all at the same time. I'm just really glad that I have my Jonathan here with me so we can figure it out together. :)

Sorry for the boasting. I'm just really proud of myself...
